ICAST 2012 Best of Show Pick: The Lure Hangar

Lure-Hangar

Every fiber of my anal-retentive being became absolutely ecstatic when I happened across the Lure Hangar from Magnetic Marine during ICAST 2012 in Orlando last week. As my fishing friends might attest to, I have issues with people or things that lack organization — heaven forbid that my socks be placed in the wrong laundry pile or that my grocery shopping process be disrupted.

In fact, I had a panic attack a few weeks ago when I ventured out on a certain 18’ Action Craft in rough seas and ended up with a top water lure embedded in the sole of my right foot. So much for “walking the dog,” it was more like “limping in a bog.”

I sure would have appreciated having a Lure Hangar on board since it may have prevented this treble hook encounter. The Lure Hangar is what I would define as a “magnetic organization station” that can seriously refine how you currently store your tackle. You can attach the powerful magnetic strips to your boat compartment lids using either double sided sticky tape, by pre-drilling screws to mount or by using a sheet of galvanized metal along with the pre-attached magnets, and then place one treble hook from the lure on the upper magnetic strip and the other treble hook on the lower strip. Two units with five super magnets on each work as a pair to hold lures at any angle.

The ability to keep your lures safe on deck, well-organized and easily accessible is extremely important during tournaments when things can get chaotic in a hurry. The Tackle Titan Lure Hangar starts at $20.99 and can be easily ordered online.
